ROME, NY – JULY 17, 2023: John Stevenson, Board Director for AmeriCU Credit Union, received the 2023 New York Credit Union Outstanding Volunteer Award. This award recognizes volunteers who exemplify commitment to their credit unions, consistently embody the “people helping people” philosophy, and who have made significant impact on credit unions at the local, state, and national levels.  

AmeriCU takes great pride in acknowledging John Stevenson for his years of service and invaluable contributions to the credit union. Stevenson has served the credit union for twenty-three years. Since joining the board of directors, he has held the position of chairman of the board from 2014 to 2023. Stevenson exemplifies dedication and commitment to the credit union philosophy, embodying its core values with passion and enthusiasm.  

When Stevenson started to volunteer in 2000, the credit union was known as Upstate Federal Credit Union, operating six financial centers with 66,500 members. Since then, the credit union has grown to become AmeriCU Credit Union, celebrating over 160,000 members and 20 financial centers. Stevenson has helped developed this growth.

Recognition Awards were presented during the New York Credit Union Association’s Annual Meeting and Convention at the Sagamore Resort in Lake George on Friday, June 16.
